What is PAN and Aadhaar Card?
PAN card is issued by the Income-tax department to all taxpayers.
It is in laminated format and has information like date of birth, name, age and 10-digit number.
Aadhaar number is a 12-digit random number issued by the UIDAI (“Authority”) to residents of India.
KYC Norms mandate linking of PAN and Aadhaar
It is mandatory under the KYC norms for all customers to furnish their Aadhaar card and Permanent Account Number (PAN) to Banks.
PAN and Aadhaar card details are also compulsory for all banking transactions such as opening an account, applying for a debit card or credit card, availing loans, or opening savings account, current account, fixed deposits, recurring deposits, etc.
How to link with SBI Bank Account?

State Bank of India (SBI) has made it very easy for its customers to link their PAN card and Aadhaar card with the bank account.
SBI provides multiple channels to link the Aadhaar number and PAN details to an existing account.
One of the methods is through the website www.onlinesbi.com
In order to link the Aadhaar with the Bank account, the following steps have to be followed:
Step 1 – Log into www.onlinesbi.com
Step 2 – Click on “Update aadhaar with Bank account” under “My Accounts”, appearing on the left panel of the screen.
Step 3 – On the next page, select the Account number, input the Aadhaar number and click on Submit.
Step 4 – The last 2 digits of registered mobile number (non-editable) will be displayed to you.
Step 5 – Status of mapping will be advised to you on your registered mobile number.
In order to link the PAN with the Bank account, the following steps have to be followed:
Step 1 – Log into www.onlinesbi.com
Step 2 – Navigate to” Profile-PAN Registration“ under “My Accounts”, appearing on the left panel of the screen.
Step 3 – On the next page, select the Account number, input the PAN number and click on Submit.
Step 4 – Your request will be forwarded to branch for processing.
The Branch will process your request in 7 days
Step 5 – Status of mapping will be advised to you on your registered mobile number.
If you are not yet registered for Internet Banking, you can do so online using your ATM cum Debit Card details.
